Live location tracking coming to iPhone

Have you ever been lost in a big city and too lazy or stubborn to buy a map or ask for directions?

Just last month I was walking in down town Chicago trying to meet a friend at a restaurant. I was following the concierge’s directions and knew I was very close, but I was walking without a map and got to the point where I didn’t know exactly how much farther I needed to walk to get to the restaurant. Even though I was within two blocks, I was late and stopped in a shop to ask for more directions. Ugh. To my excitement, DIY concierge skills are nearly complete (Zagat mobile is already here).

Live location tracking is in beta and coming to iPhone Maps. iPhone OS 2.0 will bring a little blue, pulsing ball that tracks your movement on a map. “This makes the iPhone's “Locate Me” function feel much more like a real GPS,” says iPhone Atlas.

I’m tired of coming up with excuses why I don’t have iPhone . It’s really past time to go get one.

When live location tracking comes out, I’ll probably give in (edit - and go get one free!)
