Maybe it's Monday blues or maybe I am in need of a holiday. Either way, I'm just not excited any more. That may be a strange thing to say bearing in mind the number of free iPhones I've seen pass through my hands already. The question is though, at what cost?
On one side of the scales you have the financial gain and that is complimented by a number of new skills learnt along the way; like posting on a blog, using Dreamweaver to code a website from a template, then much later on actually understanding what and why! I also now know what a cron job is, the meaning of SEO and how to set up a cron job.
The downside? What started as a hobby is now an addiction. And like most addictions, the first free iPhone excites the hell out of you, the longer you go on the free iPhones (nor even a free MacBook) don't just cut it and give you that buzz. That's where I am sitting on this dull Monday!
On reflection, I'm also a little sad that along the way I have been guilty of plagiarism and picked up some borderline habits. I've also realised (from recent Google ranking drops) that in reality I don't know SEO (I said above I knew the meaning, but that is different from understanding the content). http://www.simplyfreeiphone.co.uk has dropped down the rankings for the term "free iPhone" (on UK pages) and even if I knew why, I doubt I could fix it.
Tomorrow is another day and will surely be better. And today's lesson? Perhaps, after all, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Yeah, sure, you can get hold of a free iPhone without any financial cost but be careful that is not necessarily the whole story.
