I discovered the freebie scene in October 2006 and haven't looked back.

The only real cost is the effort that you are prepared to put in. Thankfully, I like to finish things that I start and with the help of the community at www.exceem.co.uk the free items just keep rolling in.

You name it....two free Xbox 360's, a PS3, three free Wii's, some GHD straighteners, iPods, mobile phones, PayPal cash....you name it.

The hard part is getting people signed up as referrals. Most people have a naturally scepticism and that is heightened when you add "free". The is no such thing as a free lunch after all....wrong....

How can it be free when you have to take up offers? Simply because some of those offers are free trials.

Take LOVEFiLM as an example. They have a fantastic DVD rental by post service and have advertised nationally on UK terrestrial TV. The cost is astronomical and they are looking for other ways to attract customers such as free 14 day trials. The cost of sending a few discs is small and they are confident that people will want to keep what is actually a very good service.

LOVEFiLM pay a commission to people who refer to them, in this case, to the Giveaway networks. The networks then use that commssion to send out free gifts and make a profit for themselves.

Bear in mind that not everybody completes the giveaway site, giving added cash in the pocket.

So, if you are prepared to take up a DVD rental trial (with no obligation) and can get a few friends to do the same, you will get your free item.

At worst, you just get some free DVDs!
