The aim of this guide is simple - to help you obtain free gifts from the UK’s best giveaway referral sites in less time than it would take to save for them.

I have personally received around £3,500 worth of freebies since the middle of October 2006. Those who purchased this guide from me via eBay will already have seen some of the items that I have resold. If not, please take a quick look at my eBay profile.

My friends at eXceem have also done the business, amassing over £65,000 between them. They are just ordinary people like you and me.

If you are unsure, start off by going for an iPod Shuffle for just 2 referrals - all of us have at least two friends!

How it Works
The phenomenon of referral marketing has recently swept the U.S. by storm, through what is essentially an advertising

The key to the referrals system is that the referral website is paid by the sponsor for every customer who clicks on and signs up for a trial offer with that sponsor. So if someone signs up for a LOVEFiLM free trial through PS3 giveaway, PS3 giveaway will receive X amount of money from LOVEFiLM. When this person then goes on to refer 13 other people to PS3 giveaway (and if each of the 13 people sign up for a free LOVEFiLM trial), then PS3 giveaway will receive payment from their sponsor for each of these 13 people.

The result is that the referrals website receives sufficient funding to send the customer their free gift and to operate the referral site.

Getting Started

All you then need to do is follow a few easy steps. I have illustrated the process with images of sites I am working on or have finished:

1. Select your free gift free
Click on any of the images you see in this guide and you will be taken to an approved and trusted giveaway site as my personal referral.

2. Sign up and register
Most networks send a confirmation mail to activate your account; always supply a valid e-mail address.

I personally opt out of receiving further information by e-mail and am pleased to say that the networks respect your privacy. Spam is not an issue unless you ask for it!

3. Take out just one sponsored offer
LOVEFilM is a totally free trial – just make sure that you receive at least one DVD during the trial period to qualify for credit. DO NOT cancel before receiving your first DVD!

I have included below some other examples to show you what else is available (at nominal cost).

4. Refer
I have included a “How to get referrals” section for some basic pointers on where to start. I was lucky enough to have the support of family and friends and once the first free gift came in life became a lot easier.
When you get a sign up to one of your referral sites, their e-mail address will typical show up yellow. When they complete an offer, it will turn green when confirmed.
Your referrals are therefore commonly talked about as “Yellows and Greens”.
Note that one of the referrals has been reversed because they did not receive at least on DVD during their LOVEFiLM trial period.

5. Verification
When you have obtained the required number of referrals, you can activate the verification process. This typically takes two to three weeks but some networks are now looking at a weekly cycle.

During this time, the network will check that all of your referrals are legitimate. If any are found to have broken their terms and conditions or tried to play/defraud the system, they will be put on hold (and you will lose the referral).
Common reasons for going on hold include setting up multiple accounts or registering more than one account at the same residential address.

6. Order your free gift
The nice bit!
Most networks ship at least once a month, so sit back and wait for the postman to arrive with your free gift.

How To Get Referrals
Most of us are skeptical by nature and some will take a lot of convincing to sign up and take out even a free offer. It is therefore important that you develop a method that works for you and makes the best use of your time.
Here are a few that have done me proud at different times:

· eXceem has a trades section. You sign up to a user’s chosen site in exchange for them doing the same on one of yours.
· Family, friends and work colleagues are a great source of referrals. Just remember though, you cannot have two accounts signed up from the same residential address.
· Put together some flyers and post them around your area, local college, university etc. Hand them out at car boot sales and anywhere else people may be after a bargain.
· Set up a freebie website like http://www.gadgets4nowt.co.uk/
· Get hold of some free business cards to promote your site. Use every free link exchange, classified ads and the like to attract visitors.

I sat down to write this section of the guide and initially drew a bit of a blank - does it really matter to you who I am and will knowing help you get your free PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 or HDTV, or maybe at least give you some comfort that the concept really works?
That is for you to decide I guess; all I can do is give you the facts.
I discovered the freebie scene by accident in October 2006 and have been a regular contributor to eXceem ever since under the guise FurbtasticM (don't ask!)

Q. Are these products really free?A. Yes! For every offer that is completed, the giveaway network is paid by their advertisers. They use that money to pay for your free gift!

Q. Do I need to spend any money completing offers?A. No! A lot of the offers are free trials or joining web sites for free. You don't need to spend a penny.

A. LOVEFiLM is featured on most networks and is a totally free DVD rental trial. Look out for the logo and make sure that you receive at least one DVD during the trial period to qualify for credit. DO NOT cancel before receiving your first DVD!

Q. I have completed an offer but the giveaway site is not showing that as confirmed.A. Tracking is generally automatic but things occasionally slip through the net. If you have completed an offer and have not received credit after 5 working days, then you should submit a "No offer credit" support ticket via the free giveaway site's support system.

Q. How long will the process take?A. That depends on a number of factors. The time it takes you to get the required number of referrals is key and processing times vary from network to network. On average, you could realistically be looking at two months, start to finish.
A. That's not really long to wait though, it's free after all!
Q. Can I create more than one account?A. To ensure quality offer completions and the highest payout of offers (to give you the best gifts for a low referral cost), the web sites do not permit you to create more then one account.
Q. Will I receive spam from you or any of the web sites?A. The networks take their spam policy very seriously and will never sell your information or send you spam. The same goes for their affiliates.
